Our Christmas

For me, this year Christmas was perfect.
-I finished my shopping early because I was afraid I wouldn't have the energy to do it later. Due to Baby Hannah using all of what little iron I retain naturally for herself.
-I got lucky and for the first year ever got my Dad a present that he was genuinely excited about.
-Eric wins the best husband award for getting me a compound bow. Something I've wanted since girls camp '98, and probably ever since I learned about a certain Robin Hood character.
-Josh got enough BYU memorabilia to keep him happy until he enrolls.
-Bekah loved playing with her two 8 & 9 month old cousins. I just asked her what her favorite part of Christmas was and she said; "Balls! Balls on grandma's Christmas tree."

The Mt Lassen Christmas tree hunt

Mom and Dad wanted to cut down their own Christmas tree this year so Eric and I thought we'd tag along for the fun of it, even though we didn't need a tree. The cold temperature immediately sent me back to my college days in Idaho.
This would have been a good Christmas card photo if Eric and I had been kneeling down. It's still good of the kids. I think they really enjoyed the snow. I don't think Josh remembers playing in the snow in NM, so he probably felt this was his first snow experience.

Where did my little baby girl go?

Excerpts from conversations this morning:

Mommy- Do you want cereal?
Bekah- NO!
Mommy- What do you want for Breakfast?
Bekah- CEREAL!
Mommy- k?

Mommy- Here's your cereal
Bekah- NO, Clothes on! (still wearing pjs)
Mommy- Go get your clothes on then
Bekah- NO, You get clothes!

Mommy- Do you want big girl underwear?
Bekah- No, Diaper!
Mommy- ok, go get a diaper
Bekah- No, Big girl underwear!

Bekah- I'm hungry
Mommy- you're eating an apple
Bekah- No, it's a bean!
Mommy- pretty sure you're wrong about that

The French Drain

As many of you know Redding winters consist of a lot of rain. Some years more that others but still a good about of water. I never minded the rain until the day I became a homeowner. More specifically a homeowner in Redding, CA. In preparation for this great and terrible season Eric has been digging a French drain around our house. He has had a lot of help from really nice people like Abe Passey, Nathan, and Joshua. The best day, besides the day we finished, was the day we rented a bobcat to dig throught the Redding earth. I think it was Josh's favorite day too.

Our second post

So- I'm not too into this blog thing yet. Perhaps there's hope for me yet though. Eric created this page in hopes that I would keep it up so all his friends could see what a cool family he has. I told him I didn't really want to do one, but alas...we have a blog.
Right now- my kids are reading books in front of the TV while a movie is playing. A movie they begged me to watch by the way. Your kids do this too, right? I'm sure they do.
Right now- I'm considering all my options for dinner. I really want to make Chicken and Dumplings but my Eric hates soup like it was a Nazi. Bummer. During the course of my marriage I've made a variety of different soups for dinner hoping that it wasn't soup in general that he was opposed to but perhaps a particular kind. Yeah.....and I lost that one. It's a true shame, really.

Our first post

Stephanie and I decided we should add to the internet wave and give you all a little more to surf on. That's really the only clever thing I could come up with at the moment (I think of one clever thing a day, that's it). Pictures and more will come later.
