It's been awhile...

So this is Eric here, and it seems like it has been a long while since we posted something. I will make an attempt.

Today we will be discussing gardens. Mostly, I selected this as the topic so I can brag about Stephanie and homegrown watermelons. She has become rather proficient at "watermeloning," and her products are impressive to say the least. This fine image is indicative in size, color, and quality of each of the five watermelons grown, harvested, (and eaten) to date.

You can see in the first image below not only an excellent watermelon specimen (and a cute little girl), but also some very good peaches, grown on our tree. Peaches require less skill than watermelons, but are still good.

Finally, you can see in the final image below the watermelon queen herself, tasting of the fruit of the vine, so to speak.

Nap Time?

So I'm looking at the latest movie trailers when I can't help but think that it's just a little too quiet in my house. And everyone knows what that means, so I go and check on them imagining new murals on walls and bedsheets. They were all asleep. All of them (just 3 but a lot to me) fell asleep in different places around the house. Very funny and very cute, just saying. Josh was in a time out which I forgot about; so the happy camper that he is, fell asleep by the door. Most likely waiting for his mother to call to him saying it was ok to come on out. Sad. Bekah was watching Wallie and must have found the soundtrack too soothing to stay awake. And Hannah......well she's just the best baby in the world.

31 years ago today! Happy Birthday Eric!

Newest Halpenny

Hannah Lynn was born on March 5, 2010, at 6:30 pm at Mercy Hospital in Redding. She was 9 lbs 11 oz and is a sweetie. She looks pretty much exactly the same as Bekah did when she was born. This is Eric, not Stephanie, so that's why this is a boring ol' post instead of something clever and funny.

Watching CDs

Today, my son wanted to put his CD in the DVD player and watch it on TV. I explained that he couldn't watch his CD because it was just for listening. I promised him that it would not work and that he would just have to trust me on this one. I gave him a minute to think about it and then he states, "I will put the CD in the DVD player and just see if it doesn't work, then I will know." I guess we all have to find out for ourselves sometimes.

Grandma's Library

Almost every Friday the kids and I visit my Mom at the elementary school Library where she works. Josh and Bekah are always excited to go and hear the stories she reads to the preschoolers. I mean who can say that their grandma runs a school library. Aside from story time there are a few other things we like to do at the Library.


Like, read on our own. Well, we're still working on this, but the interest is there.



Run when the Librarian isn't looking.



And of course, count the gold. This is the most important job of all.
